MCLE Training: Fighting Traffic Cases Through Trial

Overview: This training will cover defending traffic infractions through appeal, with a brief discussion of misdemeanor and felony charges. We will discuss different plea options, including: guilty vs. not guilty, traffic school eligibility, community service in lieu of fines, discovery requests, trial by written declaration, trial de novo, and the appeal process for infractions. Specific defenses to speeding and other common infractions will also be presented. Next, we will briefly discuss some of the common traffic-related misdemeanor and felony charges, when a competent attorney should be retained, and the criminal procedure for those cases.

Who Can Attend? All active ALRP Panel Attorneys and associates at partner pro bono law firms are welcome to attend any of ALRP’s free MCLE trainings. Attorneys who wish to attend but who are not currently members of ALRP are requested to join our Panel and accept two referrals in the next year. Due to space limitations, attorneys who have not yet joined our Panel are requested to attend only one free training per series. After joining the Panel, attorneys can attend as many trainings as they like.
BASF/VLSP CLE programs have been approved for Minimum Continuing Legal Education and Legal Specialization credit by the State Bar of California. The Bar Association of San Francisco is a State Bar of California certified provider.
