Divorces are a highly emotional time for parties and can be overwhelming to navigate. There are a high number of self-represented parties, so having access to resources, knowing what steps to take, and knowing their rights is especially important. This training will go over the basics of a “simple” dissolution, without custody, including process, forms, and some guidance tips for helping clients, especially those who may not have the means for direct representation or lengthy discovery.

This training will cover:

  • A broad overview of community property law; how property is characterized and divided in a dissolution.
  • Legal definitions of temporary support and permanent support, the differences, and what to look out for.
  • Procedural basics from initial filing to final judgment.
  • Pre-nups and who should have them.

The State Bar of California has certified ALRP, Provider #2485, to provide MCLE credit for this training.
