Update: ALRP Services During COVID-19

ALRP has remained open throughout the COVID-19 crisis. We continue providing free and essential legal services to all our clients in the Bay Area living with HIV during the current pandemic.

While most of our staff is working remotely, we have very limited staff in our San Francisco office for appointments with clients as needed. To schedule an appointment, please call (415) 701-1200 ext. 330 (or use the Dial-by-Name Directory).

Clients can be connected to a staff attorney by phone or email, and when needed, an in-person meeting in the office. ALRP can provide consultations and referrals to Panel attorneys, draft documents, provide full-scope representation in some matters, and connect clients with other health services.

Providing services remotely is not completely unknown to ALRP as we are always referring clients to volunteer Panel attorneys, and those referrals can be done without requiring clients to physically visit our office. We are, however, aware that for some clients, who do not have a phone or access to a computer, the current situation is far from ideal. We are struggling, like many sister agencies, with how to overcome those challenges.

The situation with local courts is still in a state of flux. While most eviction cases and most immigration matters have been suspended, not all have, so please consult with an ALRP Staff Attorney, if you have questions. We anticipate there will be many individuals who will have questions about their rights in a variety of contexts: housing, employment, benefits, immigration, credit, and estate planning.

ALRP is committed to ensuring that our clients continue getting the legal help they need.
