Because of her disabilities, “Rose” experienced significant difficulty keeping her apartment clean and organized and had relied on in-home supportive services to help her out. Unfortunately, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Rose’s support worker could not continue helping her, and the support program was unable to find a new worker for her. As a result, Rose’s landlord served her with an eviction notice, alleging that she had violated her lease agreement by accumulating too many belongings in her apartment.

Jeff Dulgar, Director of Housing and Litigation

Rose reached out to ALRP for help, and Director of Housing Litigation Jeff Dulgar went to work. He was able to secure a deep-clean of her home through Adult Protective Services, helped Rose temporarily relocate while her apartment received much-needed repairs, and worked with in-home services to secure ongoing support. Jeff was also able to secure a settlement agreement that allowed Rose to keep her housing. Rose is thrilled and relieved to finally have secure, safe, and clean housing!
