World AIDS Day and #GivingTuesday2020

Since 1988, World AIDS Day, on December 1st, has rallied people from around the world to raise awareness and take pause to honor all those that we have lost from AIDS. This year on December 1st, people all around the world are also coming together to tap into the power of human connection, strengthen communities, and change our world through Giving Tuesday 2020.

Will you be one of them?

2020 has been a difficult year, but those living with HIV/AIDS and we at AIDS Legal Referral Panel are not new to a pandemic. With your support ALRP has remained open, supporting our clients during these difficult times.

Thank you for your support.

Often ALRP’s advocacy goes beyond securing better results for only our clients and instead affects system change.
Recently, several residents of a supportive housing building for People Living With HIV/AIDS came to ALRP after their building refused to accept and hold packages due to COVID precautions. These packages included critical medications that arrive by mail. ALRP’s Staff Attorney began a lengthy process to change the building’s policy to support the entire building of venerable residents.
Through your support, an ALRP Staff Attorney successfully submitted a Request for Reasonable Accommodations and ultimately the San Francisco Department of Public Health stepped in:
“… wanted to let you know that HHS will have a meeting this afternoon for the purpose of drafting a policy directive or “best
practices” directive around the issues of medication access in residential facilities that DPH funds. “

Small victories. But for vulnerable people living with HIV/AIDS who need their medication, this is a BIG win!

What would you do if your essential medication were coming by mail and your building stopped accepting those packages?

This December 1st join us as we celebrate and honor both World AIDS Day and Giving Tuesday, we could not do this work without you.

Invest in ALRP today.
