Jose Marin Law Changes Lives for the Better
ALRP Awards Jose Marin Law as Law Firm of the Year at the ALRP Auction & Reception in October 2022.

This year ALRP recognizes Jose Marin Law (JML) as its Law Firm of the Year. JML has taken over fourteen immigration cases for ALRP clients in just the last year, and we want to share a little bit about what motivates Jose and his remarkable team.
Jose’s personal story has informed his professional life. Ever since he was a little kid, Jose was argumentative, curious, and challenged the status quo. These qualities continue to serve him well in his law career.
Jose is from a Mexican immigrant family. He arrived as a legal permanent resident at age 9, thanks to an amnesty program accessed by his father and grandfather who were seasonal farm-workers or braceros in the U.S.
After high school, Jose worked in the U.S. military for 10 years. During that time, Jose came out as a gay man and experienced harassment and disparate treatment because of his sexual orientation. After securing an honorable discharge from the military, Jose decided to become an attorney.
Once Jose took on his first asylum case, he realized his true calling. Jose wanted to help immigrants, people living with HIV, and people who need help the most. Jose connected with ALRP because he felt it was a place where his strong commitment to assisting immigrants with HIV could really make a difference. As his law firm grew, he took on more and more ALRP cases, and he and his associates have transformed the lives of many.
Jose Marin Law will receive formal recognition during ALRP’s Annual Reception on Wednesday, October 19 at the Julia Morgan Ballroom, along with Attorney of the Year Nancy Lofdahl and Clint Hockenberry Awardee, Karl Christiansen.
With our heartfelt appreciation – Thank You, Jose Marin Law!
