Volunteers are needed at the world's largest leather event the weekend of Sunday, September 29!

ALRP is a proud beneficiary of the 2013 Folsom Street Fair. Please join us on Sunday, September 29, at the city’s most popular leather/fetish fair. We are also seeking volunteers for RECON's Full Fetish and Magnitude where you will receive FREE ADMISSION!

ALRP is once again a major beneficiary and we need more volunteers than ever! First-time volunteers, Panel attorneys, law school students, and street fair stalwarts are all welcome to sign up.

Even if leather/fetish isn't your thing, there is a shift for you. Check out ALRP photos of the 2012 Up Your Alley Street Fair and 2012 Folsom Street Fair for inspiration.

By volunteering, you’ll have fun and ensure that ALRP is able to provide low-cost legal services to people living with HIV/AIDS.

Available Volunteer Shifts at the Folsom Street Fair
Sunday, September 29, 2013

The Folsom Street Fair takes place on Folsom Street between 7th and 12th Streets from 11:00am-6:30pm. Find out more at http://folsomstreetfair.org.

All of these volunteer shifts are still available as of Tuesday, Sept 24.

Entertainment (Stage Crew): Run the stages and dance areas. Assist the DJs, dancers, and demo participants. Lend a hand backstage with setup and breakdown.
2:00pm - 6:00pm

Beverages: Monitor inventory and supply liquor, soda, and water to beverage booths. Use a radio to communicate with the beverage manager. May require heavy lifting and you will be moving throughout the fair.
3:30pm - 8:00pm

Breakdown: The most important job! Restore the fairgrounds to a clean and empty street. Break down headquarters, sweep, move tables, and load trucks. You will be supervised by none other than ALRP Volunteer Coordinator Jennifer Schuster! Plus, this shift almost always ends early.
5:30pm-8:30pm

Floaters: Help with odd jobs. This may include monitoring the radios, checking-in volunteers, running supplies to other volunteers around the fair, or filling in for no-shows.
5:30pm-9:30pm

Gates: Work with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to pump $$$ out of fair-goers and hand out stickers. Energetic and vocal volunteers needed.
2:00pm - 6:30pm

Security: Be the eyes and ears of the fair. Radio headquarters to communicate about emergencies, illegal vendors, inappropriate behavior, or shortages. Must have street smarts and be polite but firm. Also, a great shift for watching the fair. In the morning, help with set up. In the evening, help with breakdown.

Set Up Shifts

Assist with tech/visuals set-up and fabrication for the weekend's parties at the Factory at 525 Harrison St. Volunteers will be directed by our subcontractor to do some or all of the following:

- assist with equipment load-in on Tuesday
- assist carpenter with stage construction
- hang fabric for the surround visuals

Ideal volunteer candidates would be those with build experience, but experience is not required. Also, this last task requires volunteers to climb ladders at times, so volunteers should be reasonably healthy, well-balanced, and be willing to be physical. Set Up volunteers will get to attend any Folsom party FOR FREE!

RECON's Full Fetish offers a taste of a classic European-style gear event. This men’s only party features some of the hottest DJs, a fantastic play area, and attracts nearly 800 horny guys. Check out this worldwide phenomenon in its local incarnation.

Front of House, Fri 9/27, 9pm-1am
Coat Check, Fri 9/27, 9pm-1am
Breakdown, Sat 9/28, 1am-4am

Magnitude is the official Saturday night dance party of the Folsom Street Fair. This year, your ticket allows you entry into two venues (Terra, Factory) to hear four of the most incredible international DJs – Phil B. and Russ Rich on the Terra side, and Tony Moran and Jack Chang on the Factory side. Coat and clothes check is included in the price of your ticket; and, don’t miss our new outdoor space. Everyone is welcome; the play space is for men only. Don’t miss the incredible light 3-D light and laser show, adult entertainers performing live on stage, and play time with 2,500 fellow leather studs.

Magnitude Volunteer Shift:
Breakdown, Sun 9/29, 1:00am-5:00am
