THANK YOU – ALRP From the Heart 34th Annual Reception
ALRP’s From the Heart 34th Annual Reception & Auction raised more than $185,000 to support ALRP’s free and low cost legal services and programs for people living with HIV/AIDS. The Annual Reception, ALRP’s biggest fundraising event of the year, was held on Wednesday, October 18th in the Julia Morgan Ballroom at the Merchants Exchange in San Francisco. The event was attended by over 400 guests.
During the evening, ALRP recognized its 34 years of achievement and honored those who have made a lasting difference in the lives of people with HIV/AIDS. San Francisco Supervisor Jeff Sheehy presented the ALRP 2017 Clint Hockenberry Leadership Award to John W. Rosenzweig, Esq., the ALRP 2017 Attorney of the Year Award to Sharon M. Dulberg, Esq., and the ALRP 2017 Firm of the Year Award to Jones Day.
“ALRP is so proud to honor the tremendous contributions of long-time volunteer Panel Attorney, John W. Rosenzweig, Esq., with our ALRP 2017 Clint Hockenberry Leadership Award in recognition of work on behalf of people living with HIV/AIDS,” stated Bill Hirsh, ALRP’s Executive Director.
The Annual Reception’s title, “From the Heart,” is a tribute to the dedication of ALRP Board members, staff, and volunteer Panel Attorneys who contribute their time and energy on behalf of people living with HIV/AIDS. The reception featured gourmet catered hors d’oeuvres, excellent wines donated by Viszlay Vineyards, and a silent & live auction conducted by Bizzarros Gala and Event Auctions.
ALRP received significant sponsorships from leading law firms and organizations including Gilead Sciences, Inc., Jones Day, the Bob Ross Foundation, Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP, the Morrison & Foerster Foundation, Perkins Coie LLP, Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, Shartsis Friese LLP, Union Bank Foundation, and Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati Foundation. Additional funds were raised through ALRP’s live and silent auction and through Reception ticket sales.
Special thanks go out to our event partners: Bizzarros Gala & Event Auctions, Rink Foto, Skona Advertising, Springer Ayeni, and Viszlay Vineyards – and to our reception ticket purchasers, donors, auction item donors and winners, and volunteers.
Despite a difficult economic climate for HIV/AIDS fundraising and a 27% increase in its caseload over the last decade, ALRP continues to provide free and sliding scale legal services to over 1,500 people living with HIV/AIDS each year. For more information and photos, visit www.alrp.org.
