2012 Annual Reception a Major Success

Thanks to you, this year’s ALRP From the Heart Annual Reception & Auction was a wonderful success and raised over $140,000 for free legal services for people with HIV/AIDS. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we can report an amazingly low administrative cost of only 13.2% on this wonderful event, which means that nearly 90% of funds raised will go directly to ALRP services.

October 17 was a beautiful fall evening, and from their vantage at the San Francisco War Memorial Building, our 300 guests could see City Hall lit up in orange to support the San Francisco Giants in their playoff efforts. The reception included time for hors d’oeuvres, wines, socializing, silent and live auctions, and awards to people who have made a lasting difference in the lives of people with HIV/AIDS.

The event was kicked off with remarks by California State Senator Mark Leno. Our host, San Francisco City and County Treasurer Jose Cisneros, presented the Clint Hockenberry Leadership Award to Boone Callaway, Esq.; the Attorney of the Year Award to Emily A. Nugent, Esq. of Dickson Geesman LLP; and the Firm of the Year Award to Reed Smith LLP.

The awards were followed by a live auction presented by Bizzarros Gala and Event Auctions. Special guests included San Francisco Supervisor Scott Weiner and Donna Sachet. The reception featured gourmet catered hors d’oeuvres by Laurel’s Catering, wine and beverages provided by Cornerstone Cellars and Target Stores, and great networking. Design of the program and other materials was donated by Skona Advertising.
